• यह दिन 2 फरवरी 1971 को रामसर, #ईरान में आर्द्रभूमि पर कन्वेंशन को अपनाने की तारीख को चिह्नित करता है।

• यह पहली बार 1997 में मनाया गया था।

• #WorldWetlandsDay2022 की थीम "लोगों और प्रकृति के लिए वेटलैंड्स एक्शन" है।

#WorldWetlandsDay, हर साल 2 फरवरी को मनाया जाता है, अब यह एक आधिकारिक संयुक्त राष्ट्र अंतर्राष्ट्रीय दिवस है। 1997 से मनाया जाने वाला यह दिवस इन पारिस्थितिक तंत्रों के महत्वपूर्ण महत्व को बढ़ावा देता है। 2022 में थीम आर्द्रभूमि की रक्षा और उसे बहाल करने की अपील है।

आर्द्रभूमि के कई लाभ हैं:

वन्य जीवन के लिए आवास;

पानी की गुणवत्ता में सुधार; बाढ़ नियंत्रण; जलवायु परिवर्तन शमन और मनोरंजन, शिक्षा और अनुसंधान के अवसर।

• #WorldWetlandsDay is being observed across the globe today.

• This day marks the date of the adoption of the Convention on Wetlands on 2 February 1971 in Ramsar, #Iran.

• It was 1st celebrated in 1997.

• #WorldWetlandsDay2022 theme is "Wetlands Action for People & Nature".

#WorldWetlandsDay, celebrated every year on 2 February, is now an official UN international day. Celebrated since 1997, the Day promotes the critical importance of these ecosystems. The theme in 2022 is an appeal to protect and restore wetlands.

Wetlands have many benefits:

Habitat for wildlife;

water quality improvement; flood control; climate change mitigation & opportunity for recreation, education, & research.

Amazing species such as the Far Eastern Curlew call wetlands home!

Wetlands are life providers:

• Rice for 3.5 billion people

• 1 billion livelihoods

• Most efficient land-based carbon stores

• Host 40% of global species
